“Ain’t gonna tie me down” is a song that we listen to in our classroom almost everyday.
I have a different meaning to it than what the song implies. My meaning is I have a goal and no one is going stop me from doing it. This is a good topic because most young people and some adults have a goal in life and throw it away for someone. You should have your goal and say, “I am going to do it no matter what anyone says.” Do not throw it away because your boyfriend wants you to or your friends say that’s stupid. They are not you; you have control of your life! They might not be there your whole life, and you threw it away for them. My mind is set to one goal already in life and no one is going to stop me from doing it.
You should make a goal in life and stick to it no matter what anyone says. Think of it this way: This is your life and you are going to be the one living it-- no one else-- so do things your way. I have had an experience in my life with a couple of my family members throwing their lives away for men/boys, friends, drugs, and alcohol. That’s no life to live. My aunt had a goal since she was 12 and she is now 38. She was doing well with it until she got with a boy that didn’t want her to do that, so she stopped. He is not in her life anymore, so she screwed up for someone that wasn’t even in her life for a long time. So I am speaking from experience. You do not have to listen to me, but please think about what I am saying and try.
